Only has a 1 year shelf life, used or not
Like the other review stated, the battery lasts only about a year. But, not to put too fine a point on it, I'd like to add the timeframe is independent on usage. In otherwords, the batteries don't seem to 'keep' well.I just purchased a 'new' battery from Amazon, and although it was unused (as advertised), it was manufactured over a year ago. Despite this, the battery worked perfectly for the first month, but eventually it began to lose ability to hold a charge. At the end of six weeks time it was performing as poorly as the original I replaced.In a fit of mild disgust I tromped down to the T-Mobile store where I caved in and bought an overpriced (but 'fresh') battery. So far, the new one has behaved fine. My standby and talk times are back up to what they were when I purchased the phone. (Approx 2.5 days w/ light usage, and about 4 hours straight talk time.)Honestly, I don't think there is anything wrong with the batteries, per se, but I...

Does the job - at less than 1/2 the price for the same thing at the Verizon store!
The battery on my Motorola W385 recently died. I headed to the local Verizon store and they offered to upgrade my phone or charge me $40 for a new battery. I really like my phone and didn't want to upgrade, but I certainly wasn't going to pay $40 for a battery.I did some online research and decided to purchase the battery directly from Amazon. Buying directly from Amazon didn't offer me the cheapest price, but it was less than 1/2 of Verizon's and I felt that Amazon would stand behind the product if it didn't work.I will admit that, when it arrived, I had my doubts as to the quality of the battery because it was in a tiny clear plastic sleeve with only a barcode on it - not anything resembling a professional retail package. However, it charged right up and has been holding its charge for days at a time.Fast shipping and a battery that does its job. Thank you Amazon!

Buyers Beware....The battery depicted adjacent to the item description is NOT the battery I received for my v3M. I received an older, first generation Motorola battery for the v3M which has a black casing. Although the battery is compatible and appears to be functioning satisfactorily at this point, it was clearly NOT the item represented on the website. The second generation (newer) Motorola batteries for the v3M contain black graphics on a white background-as pictured on the website. This is deceptive and somewhat misrepresentational. My suggestion is to check and verify by contacting the merchant prior to purchasing the item. The term "new" simply implies that the item has not been used and has nothing to do with how long the item has been stored or inventoried. Remember... Batteries lose capacity the longer that they have been stored. Always get the latest generation/version and check the date/production codes if at all possible. I bought this battery direct from Amazon. I do not trust the 3rd party sellers; none of whom appear to be authorized Motorola resellers. Counterfeit cell phone batteries are widely available for cheap prices, but who knows what quality you are getting. Cell phones have been known to catch fire or explode and manufacturers usually blame counterfeit batteries. The battery that I received from Amazon appears identical to the battery that came with my Motorola Droid phone, including the hologram labeling that is printed on the bottom of the battery.My Droid can last a whole day on one charge if I use only the phone features. If I use the internet or media or GPS features heavily, then the battery can last less than 8 hours. Fortunately, the Droid does allow you to easily pop in a spare battery.

Misleading description; otherwise good product
The product description is a little misleading as this battery is actually a 3.6v 650mAh NiMH battery rather than a NiCD. The Motorola part number is KEBT-071-D. It works correctly in my EM series radios.

Easy to carry and easy to change, Motorola's 53615 is a spare Ni-Cd rechargeable battery that no owner of a Motorola T5320, T5400, T5420, T5600, T5620, T5700, T5720, T5800, or T5820 two-way radio should ever be without. If you have a two-way radio that runs on AA alkaline batteries, you'll need Motorola's rechargeable battery upgrade kit instead (model number 53614), which includes two batteries and AA-style adapters and powers up to two radios when radios are docked within the Ni-Cd charging unit.

This battery pack and other options...
First, I'd like to say thank you to Amazon for selling these batteries at a much lower price than the Motorola website (and I get free shipping). I am purchasing them as replacements for the ones that came with the radios. As a previous reviewer noted, after a couple of years of regular use, they stop working well. They are ultimately a good investment if you intend to use them around the house, farm, or office on a daily basis. I do want to note though after a similar experience with the radios at work that if your battery pack stops working and you need to use the radios, 3 AA batteries can be used in place (but DO NOT use the rechargeable variety, just standard Duracell or Energizer AAs). If you open the back of your radio and pop out the rechargeable unit, you will see the icon for AA batteries. It works well for a few days, long enough to make a decision about the Motorola replacement pack.
