Fantastic specs at a super price point!
Aside from having bluetooth capability, real-time traffic (delayed) and larger screen this unit has more features than a Garmin unit I purchased on Amazon in 2008 for $300! The smaller screen size doesn't impact the usefulness as most safe GPS users listen to the spoken directions rather than watching the LCD screen!Amazon's posted dimensions are in error; these were copied from an official Motorola PDF datasheet: 3.7 x 3.2 x 0.7 inches for those interested in purchasing a carrying case. This unit also comes with pedestrian mode. Since it's not water-resistant it might be wise to carry a Ziploc bag along in case it rains!

Pretty decent GPS
It has some pretty decent features for Motorola's entry into the GPS realm dominated by others, Motorola was a little slow dipping it's feet into the GPS market, but the unit somewhat surprised me. Personally, I prefer the smaller 3.5" screens (BUT, only if it has decent 'text to speech' which this unit does have) as I mount it on my windshield and the less windshield real estate used, the better, if this unit or any GPS unit didn't have Text to speech, then obviously the larger 4.3" and larger units are a better choice.Picked it up on sale @ $99 then put it to the idiot test to see what it could do.Opened the box, plugged it in and put the manual aside, after all, one cannot do an idiot test if you read the manual. Pressed the on button, setup was very intuitive and simple, then entering in the destination and it got me there no problem, acquiring the satellite was quicker than I was told it would be by the salesman.(But then again, some Radioshack reps may...

Great value
Update: Looks like Motorola's support of this device is weakening. No new maps since late 2009, and no word on any scheduled updates. Web support is sparse and out of date, and even the user forum is focused on Motorola's reorganization.Sold the SUV with the built-in Nav system and did not want to spend $1600 for bulit-in on the new car. Went for this unit after a lot of research. The best screen I've seen on a portable: great size, sharp colors, great text on nearby roads. Unit was easy to set up, & it is easy to type in destinations. Voice commands are problematic: any noise such as wind causes confusion. Having my cell phone via the Nav system is ok, but causes me to strech to get at commands such as mute. I'd rather have it linked to the car's bluetooth, but then I can't get the functions which rely of a cell connection.Unit uses Navteq maps, so similar to many other units. However, the software seems to be better than other similiar models, and voice...

The one to beat....better than my Garmin and my Nike GPS.
So a little about me. I am a recreational runner and not a hardcore running enthusiast. I run anywhere from 12 to 18 miles a week. I run 5k races on occasion for fun with other family members. So I would say I'm probably your typical "trying to stay in shape" recreational runner.I have tried several other GPS running watches and the MOTOACTV is by far the best experience in my book. The first watch I purchased was the Nike Sportband. It was not very good. The screen went out on me after several months and I was limited to only Nike shoes where I could put the pod into the sole. It was not very sweat resistant and I kept having problems with sweat getting into the USB plug in. The watch did not have GPS so the distance calculations were not as accurate as I would have liked either. Overall not impressed. The MOTOACTV is so much better I almost feel ashamed to compare them. The next watch I got was the Garmin 305. I felt like I was wearing a toaster...

Great Feature Set + Committed to Improvement
I'll admit that I was torn about purchasing the MOTOACTV after reading the reviews on Amazon, but I finally decided to purchase this product a few days ago and I'm glad I did. As an alternative to some of the detailed, product-specific reviews, I thought it might be helpful to walk through my purchase decision:It is clear that Motorola identified an unmet market need with this product: a small, fitness-specific GPS device with a built-in MP3 player. That was exactly the feature set that I had been searching for. The alternatives on the market fell short for different reasons: - iPod Nano, 7th generation: GOOD: small, clip + watch + armband options, music, Nike+ app; BAD: No GPS - Nike+ Sportwatch, Garmin Watches: GOOD: GPS, small; BAD: No music, watch only - Smartphone apps (e.g. Runkeeper, Endomondo, MapMyRun, Nike+): GOOD: GPS, cheap or free, most offer music; BAD: requires bulky smartphone, varying quality softwareDespite having...

MotoACTV is a fitness tracker and smart music player combined into a lightweight, wearable device. It's like having a personal trainer and a DJ joining you on your run or ride. It's the smart fusion of music and fitness that alters its workout performances with you, so you can focus on fitness, not playlists. Key Features of MotoACTV include: Accusense Technology to track your running and biking performance outside and in the gym. Time, distance, speed, calories burned are all part of your workout. Smart music player (High-Performance Playlist) learns what songs motivate you by tracking your performance against your music. Track yourself on the device on an uploaded map. MotoACTV gives you the option to stay connected to your smartphone, so you can get texts or calls (and rock out) via your stereo Bluetooth headphones (sold separately). Great potential...but wait for v2
I purchased an 8GB MOTOACTV the day it was released from a local "big box" chain, and my first impressions are that Motorola has created a device with great potential, but one that needs work to smooth out a few rough edges. First, a bit about why this was purchased... I'm a long-time casual runner who is gearing up for longer races (half marathons) next year. While I usually love to run in silence, my longer training runs are getting a bit monotonous, so I was on the hunt for an MP3 player that could add some spice to my workouts. I've been using different GPS watches over the years, primarily Garmins (305, 405) and, more recently, the Nike+ Sportswatch, and the thought of having both an MP3 player AND a GPS unit rolled into one seemed like a masterstroke. When I read about the MOTOACTV in October, I thought "voila!" - the perfect fitness accessory. And on paper, it seems perfect. Built-in Bluetooth and WiFi capabilities. Heart-rate monitoring through wireless headphones...

Very nice, very nice, Indeed!
It's going to be a long review. For starters, I've used in-car OEM GPS for the past 2 cars, and I've seen how they have evolved and technology has really improved over the years.I really enjoy the GPS/bluetooth/audio integration (in my Honda Civic Hybrid) but since this is a hand held unit, I won't complain. Besides, it's fractions of the cost 1/10 of the OEM GPS Navigation units). The screen size is just right. Even though I've enjoyed the OEM 7" GPS, but this one packs lots of information in the 4.3" very nicely. Even when you are driving at a location with 7 lanes, it highlights exactly which lane you should be driving. It is very updated (there's a location nearby my house finished construction 2 years ago but my new 2009 Civic didn't have an updated map of that Freeway interchange. But this one did. And it is a very confusing interchange, but this one executed the command and routing beautifully. The speed in pulling up a destination is a bit slow when...

Feature rich GPS but customer support? Well, not so feature rich.
Whats is in the box is a nice, sleek, apparently well made GPS, a window mount, a car charging cradle (that attaches to the window mount), a mini USB cable and a 12V power cable for the car. The quality of the mount is top notch with both up and down positioning and a pivoting head where the car charging cradle attaches. The GPS itself is heavy and has a substantial feel. It can be charged via the included computer USB cable or the automobile 12v accessory jack charger. However, if you want a 110 volt charger for the home, that is extra. After charging the unit up and proceeding through the basic setup, which is very straight forward, I tested out the devices features. This is a feature rich GPS. Setting up the bluetooth and syncing my phones contacts was a snap (although the syncing part took several minutes). The voice prompts were clear and the voice recognition was both effective and convenient. I was able to retrieve contacts and dial them without ever touching...

Cool GPS unit with some unique features
After spending some time with it, I'm finding the Motorola TN565T easy to operate, feature-rich and generally cool all around. The unit is rugged and obviously high quality with a legible 4.3" LCD screen, accurate touch screen and clear speakers. It runs about 2-3 hours on the internal rechargeable batteries, or it can be powered using a micro-USB adapter (included) in the car. The kit also includes a very rugged car mount and a USB cable for connecting the Motonav to your PC.One of the unique features is that the unit can pair with a Bluetooth phone, enabling the GPS to access various information services such as live traffic, search (Google and Bing) and added services like stock quotes, weather, flight status, messaging and even up-to-the-minute fuel prices. You can also use the GPS as a "front end" to your phone, letting you place calls and so on directly from the GPS. For those of you having small, conventional (but Bluetooth-enabled) phones, this is a big plus while...

Pleasant Surprise!
OK, first off I am not a Motorola employee or any ways associate with Motorola. I bough this GPS from W****rt for a trip for $ 160, knowing that it does not have good reviews around the internet. I also planned to return it if it give me any problems on my trip. I have owned several previously, Garmin, Mio, even a Harman Kardon. I also used a naviagation system in a Lexus. What a surpise. The unit locked on sattelite signals in less than 10 seconds and so easy to use. One hick up: it lost the route (I had to reprogram it) after I deliberately made several turns. After that, it performed flawlessly. It did picked the shortest route to my destination. Text to speech was clear and it announced all names for a road (FM xxx, xxx blvd, state highway XXX). Whenever possible, it even displayed the speed limit! It started telling to turn 1 mile before, half mile, 0.2 mile then at the intersection. This GPS unit is very accurate, I checked it several times when I crossed the...

Good value for the money....
I have had 2-3 other GPS units for my SUV over the years such as Garmin, and Megellan. I believe this one works as well as the other units in terms of showing your position on the map, re-calculating your route and general information on the screen. Searching for location and displaying POI's is on par with similiar GPS systems. Where the TN30 is better than the other units is it offers Bluetooth hands free calling on my cell phone. The unit paired right up with my phone and the sound is loud and clear. The other nice feature is the spoken street names. I really like knowing the exact street to turn on when in a new or unfamiliar location. I can glance at the street sign an know for sure this is my turn. I would have given it five stars but Motorola does not have a map update for their GPS units at this time and mine came the NavTeq maps from the first quarter of 2008 (NT 2008.Q1). You can find other units with newer maps or map updates from the manufacturer. With no updates available...

Beware!!!, No Map updates, Inadequate Support from Motorola
I received the TN30 as a gift in December 2008. I actually like how the unit works but there is slight learning curve to using it. I had to update the software and it works fine. Motorola did not let me know about the update, I just started poking around their support web site and found it. The maps are dated. Mine are from 2007! I called Motorola this January 2010 and there still are no updates! How can this be! When pressed on the issue, Motorola would only merely state that there were no updates at this time. No indication of when they I could expect them and not even an offer to alert me when the updates are available. They simply told me to keep checking their web site to see when the maps are available. It's a shame that Motorola is doing business this way. I do not recommend anyone to purchase this product.
