Very Acceptable Phone
I read the one other review and was a bit concerned. I generally like Motorola products, I have used them personally and professionally for years and had very few problems, I decided to try this phone system. I agree with the other reviewer, the phones are cell-phone-ish if that makes sense. Yes they are light and they are plastic. I have no problem with that, all this electronics is Chinese crap anyway. The phones have Li-Ion batterys and that is a major asset, quick charge and long life, and very easy to replace. Range is good, but keep in mind this is a cordless phone, not a ham radio. I have a 3200ag ft house all one level. The one phone is 80 feet from the base, good strong signal and call quality is fine. Yes a blinking light for voicemail would have been nice but its not required. The units are light and small but large enough to fit your hand and decent ear-mouth distance for ease of use. If you were doing extensive calling a headset might be usefull. Set up was...

Happy with my new phone
I am very happy with this phone. I like the look and feel of this phone. I really like the fact that you can use it as an intercom, call another extention in another room. You can also listen to the messages on the handsets. I can not rate the phonebook feature, I don't use that feature.

Very happy with the L301
I have had this unit for a few months now and have been very pleased with it. In fact, I'm looking for the add-on units to populate other rooms with the same handsets. Call quality has been superb with no interference. Until I read some of the other reviews, I'd never noticed issues with the base weight and ring tones - neither has been an issue for me. Speakerphone works well with ample volume on both ends. All-in-all, I have been very pleased with the L301.

Excellent cordless phone
This phone is easy to use, has great voice quality, long battery life and looks great. We needed a replacement for a previous cordless phone and didn't want to pay a lot. We've had this phone off the base for 2-3 days and the battery didn't die. We like the added ability to add additional handsets. The phone comes with a variety of ringers including pleasant melodies that won't wake our baby when someone calls. The screen is bright and the text is clearly legible.

It's what I needed
I needed a basic no answering machine cordless as my landline backup for my cell phone until I can get a femtocell in my 'country estate'. This was inexpensive, looked classy rather than tacky, and was by a good brand name. It's no larger than it needs to be. I'm disappointed it doesn't wall mount, but not surprised as this seems to be a feature that only I still want in a phone. The sound quality is acceptable and the range appears adequate for me. After 20 years of cordless phone technology and a vast number of upgrades (Gigahertz, Dect, whatever) one might think that the sound quality would be outstanding if not perfect at this point, but there is still some background static, alas. Voices are always intelligible however and there isn't any noticeable distortion. The handset is nice - it fits well in the hand, is a nice size and weight, and the buttons and operation feel quality. Way better than the Phillips I had!!
I purchased this phone, because mainly the name. I've had Motorola cell phones in the past and they never failed me, so I thought I would look for a more suitable replacement for the Phillips cordless I had which was beyond problematic. It was hard to use, and the instructions were too confusing. Thank god for this phone. Not only is it user friendly, but I also purchased the corded version, and I love the way that you can still retrieve your voicemail messages from the base phone. Whereas with the much more expensive Phillips phone I couldn't. I highly recommend this phone.

Novice review for novice buyers
I bought this product about two months ago to replace my Uniden phones which had terrible battery life. I did not know that Motorola made home phones, so I was interested because of my experience with their other electronic devices. I read some reviews and went ahead and made the purchase because of great price and Motorola toughness. These phones have great battery life so far. My other Unidens (don't remember the model), started showing significant less battery life by this time. So, I am happy about the batteries. The phone is just plain, but seems to be well constructed as I had expected. The remote features of the phone are not explained too well in the instruction manual, but a little common sense and trial and error has overcome much of what is not in the manual. Hey, they crank out products so fast nowadays, your head's a spinnin. When was the last time you bought a car where the manual was specifically tailored to your vehicle? The manuals are usually broad ranging...

Motorola Phone
These are the reasons I didn't give this phone five stars across the board. 1) I don't believe the key pad is going to last very long. All of the numbers are together on one smooth panel with only narrow seams separating them horizontaly. Had each number been it's own separate raised key, I'd like it much better and think it would last for years. 2) The key pad is not lit. 3) I've turned the ringers off on each phone. I expected that that would make the base silent as well. Either it doesn't have this abiltiy, or I haven't figured out how to do it yet. This I find quite annoying and wonder what the point of having the option on the hand sets is. Other that these issues, I'm delighted! It's cool looking and the sound quality is fantastic. No interference with other electronics. It's slim design is a real space saver in my tiny apartment. I think it holds only 30 phone numbers, so that could be increased. All and all, I like it. And... the company I ordered it from is...
