Update: Looks like Motorola's support of this device is weakening. No new maps since late 2009, and no word on any scheduled updates. Web support is sparse and out of date, and even the user forum is focused on Motorola's reorganization.Sold the SUV with the built-in Nav system and did not want to spend $1600 for bulit-in on the new car. Went for this unit after a lot of research. The best screen I've seen on a portable: great size, sharp colors, great text on nearby roads. Unit was easy to set up, & it is easy to type in destinations. Voice commands are problematic: any noise such as wind causes confusion. Having my cell phone via the Nav system is ok, but causes me to strech to get at commands such as mute. I'd rather have it linked to the car's bluetooth, but then I can't get the functions which rely of a cell connection.Unit uses Navteq maps, so similar to many other units. Costs more....
Verizon sells a similar dock in their stores and it costs less than this dock. HOWEVER, in their box, all you get is the dock and an audio cable, no car charger and it does not have the 2:1 dock cable that gives you the capability to 1. have just one cable drop from the dock if you want to use your in-car sound system auxiliary input with your phone and 2. the ability to insert your phone, slide in the dock connector and be connected. With theirs, you must also insert the audio cable (mini-phone plug) into the audio out of your phone, after putting your phone in the dock. Not a big hassle, but a hassle. So, in my opinion, the extra cost for this model is justified.One caveat: Using the unique 2:1 cable connection to connect to your aux input only works if you do not have the bluetooth connection active. If you use the extra cable, you can listen to the phone thru your sound system, and talk into a bluetooth hands-free unit. I would like to see the dock/special cable...

Very Nice Dock
I purchased this dock to make the use of navigation on my phone better. It works great. I have read another review where the person complains about the fit and the connection. I do not think that this is a problem with the dock I was able to plug it in and use it with no problems whatsoever. I was able to use the dock with my Amzer Luxe Argyle TPU case and it fits perfectly. I just popped out the insert and put my phone in and it connects without any problem. The access is quick and easy and makes this dock a handy accessory for the RAZR.I recommend that anyone with the RAZR invest in this accessory as I have found it to be the most useful one yet.

Works Fine
Have now used this dock several times, and have none of the issues other reviewers have. Slides easily in and out, allows me to navigate, search, play music, make and receive calls while driving and charge the Razr...which is about all I would ever do while driving. Allows my bluetooth headset voice to talk and listen...I have a Sound ID Six bluetooth headset. Pricey...yes, a bit for a car dock. Charging cord also has an additional slot to charge an mp3 player I believe? This dock also allows for the Motorola car finder app to pop up automatically once you remove the phone from the dock so you can later find your car in case you've forgotten where you parked. The dock does not allow for sending or receiving text messages which is a wonderful safety feature in this wild and crazy driving world we find ourselves in. So, is it fantastic, no. Does it work well, yes.

Droid 3 Car Dock
This is my third Droid car dock (droid, droid 2, droid 3). They are significantly more expensive than a generic car dock but i like that this it specific to my phone. It comes with a car charger and, new with this generation, is an audio cable that can connect to your aux input for your car stereo to play music from your phone. Another improvement is the charger jack on the back of the dock. The droid 2 version required that you stick the plug straight into the jack on the back of the dock creating a awkward angle for the plug and stretching the jack input. This version connects from the side alleviating this issue. The dock seems sturdy and doesn't feel like it will break easily.One note...I think this is a phone issue rather than the dock but it's worth mentioning. With the Droid and Droid 2 versions, the phone automatically detected that it was in the dock and when into "Car Mode" which is Droid-speak for Navigation. With my Droid 3, this is not the case. I... Great car dock for the Droid 3
This is a great product - well-constructed, sturdy, easy to use. It will hold the Droid 3 securely with or without a cover. Including the power hookup as an incorporated piece of the car dock, along with the combination of the charger cord and the audio cable makes for a cleaner implementation and a definite improvement over the car dock that went with the original Droid. The one to beat....better than my Garmin and my Nike GPS.
So a little about me. I am a recreational runner and not a hardcore running enthusiast. I run anywhere from 12 to 18 miles a week. I run 5k races on occasion for fun with other family members. So I would say I'm probably your typical "trying to stay in shape" recreational runner.I have tried several other GPS running watches and the MOTOACTV is by far the best experience in my book. The first watch I purchased was the Nike Sportband. It was not very good. The screen went out on me after several months and I was limited to only Nike shoes where I could put the pod into the sole. It was not very sweat resistant and I kept having problems with sweat getting into the USB plug in. The watch did not have GPS so the distance calculations were not as accurate as I would have liked either. Overall not impressed. The MOTOACTV is so much better I almost feel ashamed to compare them.The next watch I got was the Garmin 305. I felt like I was wearing a toaster... Top to learn more

I'll admit that I was torn about purchasing the MOTOACTV after reading the reviews on Amazon, but I finally decided to purchase this product a few days ago and I'm glad I did. Great potential...but wait for v2
I purchased an 8GB MOTOACTV the day it was released from a local "big box" chain, and my first impressions are that Motorola has created a device with great potential, but one that needs work to smooth out a few rough edges. First, a bit about why this was purchased... I'm a long-time casual runner who is gearing up for longer races (half marathons) next year. While I usually love to run in silence, my longer training runs are getting a bit monotonous, so I was on the hunt for an MP3 player that could add some spice to my workouts. I've been using different GPS watches over the years, primarily Garmins (305, 405) and, more recently, the Nike+ Sportswatch, and the thought of having both an MP3 player AND a GPS unit rolled into one seemed like a masterstroke. I wish I would have listened to the ONE warning I read about this bluetooth
Sometime before I bought this bluetooth, I read on here rave reviews about it. The ONE negative review I read said that if anything, it is TOO good- that is, the mic is way too sensitive. It picks up and amplifies every single sound.Boy, do I wish I had listened to that warning. If you are on this bluetooth and are, say, moving papers around quietly on your desk, your listener will hear EXTREMELY LOUD exaggerated paper rustling screeching into their ear. I can't begin to describe how loudly this picks up every single sound.My boyfriend has the same bluetooth and I can't stand to listen to him on it. If he does the dishes while talking to me it sounds like world war three on the high seas.IF you are going to be just sitting there, doing nothing but talking, this bluetooth will be great. Product was fine when I finally got one that worked. Vendor seems to have a bunch of rejects or somethings as they come without the retail packaging. My first one was junk so I asked the vender to check the operation of the unit before he shipped. He did so and I was happy with it. The source of these units is definitely to be suspect. Don't even hope that you are getting first quality products. If you are either lucky or persistent you should end up with heck of a deal on a nice bluetooth headset. Top to learn more
