Replacement for AT&T Siemens SpeedStream 4100
I bought this DSL modem to replace the one AT&T supplied because the power button was starting to act up. It was easy to to set up with the software. It seems my connection is faster than with the sppeadstream 4100 too. When installing this DSL modem make sure you have your DSL network password handy. I had a little trouble with that part. But got it figured out. There was no tweaking of the settings to get it to work with AT&T. It was up and running in a matter of minutes. I would recommend this modem to anyone. The price is great too.

works fine in bridge mode, no filters included
It works with my ATT DSL service in SF Bay Area. Because I have my own router, I set it to bridge mode to avoid the double NAT problem described by some reviewers here. The product arrived from Amazon.com in a stained white paper box. I thought it was an used or opened item but all parts inside appear new. I would not give it 5 stars because it runs hot and the case does not provide good ventilation. I guess it is a consumer-grade device designed for a price point. For about 1/2 the price of the modem kit sold by ATT, this is a good deal. However, unlike the ATT kit, it does not include any DSL phone line filter. Therefore, a buyer with new installation has to get the filters separately.

Wireless connection
The wireless connection worked after I downloaded a driver I searched for on theinternet. The first problem was that the HP computer that needed the wireless fordid not have the capability to download the driver I needed (Vista). So I downloadedthe driver onto my Sony desk top (XP) and then the wireless connection I connectedto the Vista desktop worked. I used a search engine to find the driver and I paid$40 on line extra to install it. So now it is picking up the signal through mySony (XP) which is connected to the wireliess router we have for the house.However, whenever the HP is on line my laptop Toshibia (Vista) will not get onthe web, so I have to get HP (Vista) off line first. It seems like it is the Vistaprogram that is causing this difficulty, but I can live with it. I know the XP worked. I do not have Windows 7, so I cannot tell you if it would work with that one.

Pleased with order.
I am please with the Netopia 3D Reach Wireless adapter. I already had one like it that had come from my wireless network. They were wanting me to pay $55. for one exactly like it to replace one that had gone out. Shopping through Amazon saved me $30. Installation was very easy.

this was a must but for me because a power surge knocked out my ether net port i need a quick way to get back on line and this did the trick have had no issues with it and im getting better speeds since going wireless then i did with the ether net port

Modem/Router
Choose to purchase my own wireless modem/router instead of paying the $5 a month to rent one. I have purchased 2 of these. The first, which was for myself, had a few problems with the intial set-up and connection with the isp, but was finally able to get that issue fixed and didn't have a problem with it since. The second, purchased for a friend and it too had issues with connecting to the isp. Whenever it had an issue, had to go in and reset the modem. Also, it wouldn't connect with all wireless equipment. I upgraded to broadband an took my modem to my friends and after a little difficulty, had it set-up for them and was able to wirelessly connect the other equipment with no problems.

But if you use a router, then beware before purchasing the Netopia. When installing this DSL modem make sure you have your DSL network password handy. So if someone needs to use the internet they have to connect their laptop directly to the modem. I bought this DSL modem to replace the one AT&T supplied because the power button was starting to act up. It was easy to to set up with the software. For about 1/2 the price of the modem kit sold by ATT, this is a good deal. However, this modem doesn’t work well with the router. When connected directly to the laptop, the internet works fine. It works with my ATT DSL service in SF Bay Area.
