Works perfect
The confusing thing about this modem is that it has a different firmware depending on who is your DSL provider and location. I have AT&T from Los Angeles. The Netopia modem I purchased was from Florida. So the firmware on it was made for the Florida area. I was on the phone with AT&T for about 2 hours before AT&T figured out it was the wrong firmware. AT&T in Los Angeles sells this modem for $100 while I bought it for $20.00. Please note that the AT&T from the east coast has a different Firmware then AT&T from the west coast. I did call Netopia, who has excellent customer service. They stated that all the Netopia modem have the same hardware, but different firmwares. Netopia customer service recommends to buy the modem from the correct area, over updating the firmware yourself. One thing I really like about this modem is that I can send out 4 different wireless signals with different names.

Works well, but is used
As others have mentioned, the product is not new(had an @bellsouth.net PPoE login for a business), but don't let that deter you. It works with no problems on AT&T in West Tennessee. Just make sure you set the correct VPI/VCI settings(VPI 8, VCI 35 for Tennessee, VPI 0 for some other states), put in your PPoE Username and Password, and you are done.Just to be safe, it would probably be a good idea to factory reset the modem as soon as you get it, no telling what other settings may be lurking in there.This modem was used to replace a 2Wire 2700HG that was, well, terrible(Unstable, forgets wireless password, drops packets under light wireless usage). I had been using the Qwest model 3347 for the past two years before moving back to Tennessee, so replacing the 2Wire with this was a no-brainer. I replaced the 2Wire at my brother's house with the 3347 from Amazon and it solved his issues as well. I have since ordered another two units for future use/spares...

Good DSL router missing only USB port
This is a good router for the money, for $20 you get a DSL Modem plus router with WIFI & 4 Lan ports.my unit came used with scratches on the front part but no biggie.Software was up to date but I did have to reset the VPI/VCI from VPI 8 VCI 35 to VPI 0 VCI 35 I am in AT&T TexasThis unit actually boosted my signal from 768kb to 1.4Mb almost twice the speed compared to my previous DSL Modem efficient Speedstream 5660 also the WIFI reach is a lot better.The two cons I could see1 unit is missing a USB port but for twenty bucks ok with me.2 the wireless security encryption WPA WPA2 sould have all AES TKIP SKA it doesn'tI have a good bridged wireless router WRT54G-TM running DD-WRT with only one option WPA PSK and looks like I can't use it unless I use WEP but that's a no no.Now if you have a good running router, still get this router as a backup just in case.

Netopia Rules!
This is actually named the "Netopia 3347-02-1006" wireless gateway just to be clear.I had been wrestling with frequent dropouts using my 2Wire AT&T gateway which only carries a 1 year warranty and was giving me fits. I ordered the Netopia for about $80 and it arrived rapidly. I was a bit concerned about setup with AT&T, however, it was VERY simple and I was off the phone in 5 minutes. It has been rock-solid on the ethernet ports with no dropouts in the several weeks I have been using it. Wireless setup was also super simple. I am totally satisfied with this purchase!

Verizon DSL Customers...HEED THIS ADVICE!
If you are a Verizon DSL customer, you will probably not be able to connect immediately to Verizon DSL service with your new modem, due to their WAN IP Lease expiration issue. However, after disconnecting the old modem and waiting for a few hours, the lease on the WAN IP should expire and the Verizon server will issue a new WAN IP to the new router. From that point on the auto-configuration worked like a charm for me. My advice:1) don't call Verizon customer service - they are clueless about this issue2) don't call Motorola customer service - they told me that the router just does not work with Verizon3) disconnect your old modem the night before your new Motorola shows up. That way you are ready to go immediately.After this issue resolved, no problems, works great.

Motorola 3347 Qwest Modem
I was renting this same model from Qwest when I started my DSL service, and quite pleased with it. After their merger with Century Link it was no longer an option to buy it from them, so I bought it through a Amazon merchant. It has worked beautifully with no issues whatsoever. The speed is good and the Wi-Fi is very handy as well. And the price was half what I would have paid through Qwest!

Great Modem... A Pain to Setup...
Great modem, great signal strength and speeds, that is if you can get it set up... Set up for the device was very difficult, and the included software didn't work for me at all.I know this is less of a review and more of a tutorial, but I thought I'd post it here, because I saw a lot of Amazon users were having the same problems as I had setting this thing up. I probably worked for 2-3 hours trying to get this modem to up and running... I even spent some time on the phone with Qwest/Century Link but to no avail since it's a third party modem and one they don't lease out.At first I tried using the "easy" set up wizard software included with the modem, but it didn't work for me at all. The Power light was green as well as the Wireless and DSL light, but the internet light was blinking Red... So I quickly ditch the CD and set up the modem manually.I finally figured out how to get this thing up and running. What I had to do was manually set the VPI and...

I replaced an older Actiontec modem as I thought it may have been the culprit in some home network problems I was having. I have Qwest DSL as a service provider and upgraded to an Actiontec PK-5000. I also have an apple tv 2g at home. I discovered however through trial and error that the PK-5000 does not support the apple tv as it should. If plugged into the router with an Ethernet cable I was fine but it would not recognize it wirelessly.I stopped at best buy and picked this up for 98 bucks. The store associates didn't' even recognize it as something they carried. Regardless I brought it home and hooked it up.1. The installation is not exactly flawless. You need to know your ISP's user name for your modem to access their network. (among other things)2. The modem won't always recognize that password. If this happens after or during installation, reset the modem by holding down the reset button for 15 sec. + then find it in your browser. The address is not typical and...

configuration nightmare
From a hardware standpoint this may be a great, fast router/modem, however...The software that comes with this product is utterly TERRIBLE!!! Truly the worst, biggest pain in the rear of any of the many I have ever used.The set-up software looks like is was ported to the Mac from Windows 95, and works about as well.The gateway homepage configuration utility is abysmal. Even the simplest changes are either labyrinthine or impossible or just plain don't work. Want to change the DNS to use Open DNS or Google DNS? Forget it. Want to set-up multiple SSID's? Forget it. Want support beyond basic FAQ? Forget it.

Worked beautifully with AT*T/Yahoo DSL Service
I decided to take a chance on a refurbished unit as I've had good luck on other refurbished electronics. This arrived and worked right out of the box. I was lacking the instruction sheet but found plenty of info online, particularly through the BellSouth support page for Netopia gateways. I had a little confusion, thinking that the modem wasn't working correctly, but determined that (Imagine the odds) both my DSL service initially went down and when it finally came back up, my iGoogle page was down. Anyway, turned out not to be the gateway. It works great, is fast,has what appears to be a well-made power adapter, and I like that the lights are larger than the 2Wire and D-Link gateways I've had in the past. Hooking up wireless to my notebook was a no-brainer. I personalized the SSID and turned on NAT but after that it worked well and was fast. I'd have no problems recommending the Netopia 3347NWG-006 and if you can find a good refurbished model from a reputable dealer, go with it and...
