Who Needs an iPhone?
Wooow! I need to catch my breath...Let me begin by saying I'm an economist. Logos do not impress me. Excellent price/performance ratios impress me. Although I must admit, the Exhibit II is a fairly beautiful phone in real life; don't let the photos scare you.This powerful yet humble device has the same memory (512MB RAM) and CPU speed (1GHz) as the iPhone 4. Works amazingly well with CyanogenMod 9!
UPDATE 4/30/12: It's been about 5 months since I got this phone, and still it is running like a champ! No problems with it so far, and it runs great with CyanogenMod 9 (free of T-Mobile bloatwares). If you want a custom ROM but need to use the camera, go with another Gingerbread ROM such as XquiziT and RebelROM. Find everything you need on the xda-developers forum.UPDATE 3/28/12: I uploaded a video onto YouTube demonstrating CyanogenMod 9 running on this phone. Awesome phone at this price and great plans
I have been researching pre paid phones and plans for a while now and this phone with the pre paid plans T-mobile has is a great deal. The phone is really nice for a $200 buyout phone. It has great sound quality (both earpiece and speakerphone). I am coming from the original Droid on Verizon. The camera on the phone is very decent. Certainly as good as the 5mp on the Droid and faster too. I like T mobiles wi-fi calling from home..it allows me to run on my own wifi system if T-Mobiles signal is weak indoors. Video chat using Gtalk works very well. The phone comes with Kies Air for wireless transfers from your laptop and Yelp (for finding all those nice places to do business with). The GPS system works very well and the web is super fast on T-Mobiles great 4G (and I get it almost everywhere even in places my friends do NOT get Wimax on Sprint. Small, compact and great for a starter Smartphone
A friend owns the same phone and I was able to test it out before purchasing one. As other reviewers have brought out, the battery life is quite bad. Be prepared to charge your phone every night if you run a lot of apps. I'll be looking into getting a new battery with higher capacity. The Qwerty keyboard while texting can be a tad small, easily fixed by turning the phone on the vertical, buttons are slightly larger then. The other 'complaint' about this was that it came without an ear-piece, easily rectified by getting one cheap online. As for it being truly unlocked, I haven't been able to test that function out yet. We travel frequently to Asia and I hope it works there. All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase, esp for the price paid.Update 10/14/11: Wanted to note too, the adapter that is provided for N. America customers is totally worthless as the charger comes with the 3 rectangular prongs. The adapter provided will not fit, so be prepared to buy your own adapter...

It's a great phone for the price range.
I bought this exact model (but with a green back cover) in China in October 2011. I needed something cheap, and I needed it fast. I didn't want to spend too much money, because I wouldn't be there for more than a few months. My only reason for purchasing it was to call people, send texts, use Google Translate, and use Baidu maps to get around. Fortunately, I was also able to tether right out of the box as well -- and connect my laptop when I was in rural China.If you're a frequent traveler, global roaming is a giant money scam. I suggest buying yourself an unlocked phone, and just switching in SIM cards in the country of your choice... if they support them. Many places will let you pay month-to-month. For example, in China, I'll pay about $10.50 per month for a pretty decent package. Good phone but some issues to be aware of
Due to some discussion about very different flavors of this phone being shipped by different sellers, this review is for a phone sent to me by UNLOCKED CELL PHONE KINGS INC via Amazon. Delivery was prompt and the item was in brand new condition (if it wasn't they sure did a great job making it look that way). Mine came with a very brief manual (if you want to call it that) in English, with the phone set to UK English. This is my first even semi-smart phone, but I have some experience as an Android tablet user so it wasn't all new to me.I have several USB cables with male USB mini connectors. This phone uses a USB micro connector for charging and data transfer so I bought some mini-to-micro adapters so I could use the stuff I have, but the adapters turned out to be useless. I purchased the ACE for myself 8 months ago and it is so easy to use. It does drink the battery if you are doing alot of internet and application access during the day. All in all this is a great phone with good features and able to run all the Android applications. I love the WiFi because it saves on my data plan. Awsome phone... Android is great!
After a deep research on the internet about new phones, i decided to change mi Great Nokia 5800 for an android based phone. Galaxy Ace was the best Cost-Benefit choice. Big challenge for me to change my Symbian system, because use to be really stable and well done. I bought this phone unlocked because i live in Costa Rica, so i needed a phone which works with the local carrier, and this phone turn to be the best purchase i could do, it works with the 850mhz 3G network of the ICE(Costa Rica s goverment carrier) and the android 2.2 Froyo installed works perfect, with a brilliant 4inch amoled and the fast 1ghz processor. I recomend to buy also an Otterbox Box Case for this device, which fits great. I bought it at $374.99 and is the best deal i could find for a phone with this technical details.

Read comments on apps/upgrades
After shopping around, I decided to go with the Captivate. I'm very glad I did. This phone is intelligently designed, versatile, has a lot of memory, and very few cons. The display is big, bright and crystal clear. I have froyo (2.2) which seems to have resolved a number of problems earlier versions had.One bit of advice: before you download any app or upgrade, read the customer comments. They will usually tell you better than anything else whether that particular app or upgrade is a good one. Some upgrades only install more advertising. It's also a good idea to read permissions.A lot of people have battery drain issues with this phone. Disabling Background Data under Settings/Accounts and sync seems to help with this problem.

Very GOOD!
The phone is really the best mobile I've ever had.It has all the modern functions and runs great, smooth, beautiful..Though AT&T is really ruining it with all the bloatware and stuff..Runs flawlessly on ECLAIR (Android 2.1). CHEAPEST CONTRACT EVER + VERY GOOD PHONE
First off let me tell you that I switched from an iPhone 4 to this phone! Why would I do such a thing? Well, because I am sick and tired of paying so much for a phone contract. ATT charged me $40 for 450min, $25 for 2gb of web, $20 for unlimited texting= $85. But somehow that number always ends up over $100 because of bunch of taxes and fees (and I don't go over my minutes ever). Let's see, VM charges me $25+$2tax for 300 minutes, unlimited web+text. This phone is a solidly performing Android 2.1 phone. It is comparable to the first generation mainstream Android Phones, such as the Motorola Droid, HTC Nexus One, and others. It does not perform as well as the cutting edge Android 2.2 phones like the Droid X, Droid 2, Samsung Galaxy, etcetera.The key to this phone is that you get all the features that you really need for $250 upfront, $25 a month, and no contract. I hate to spend money. I've been using the same old Nokia with T-Mobile TOGO for several years ($.10/minute). So when I saw that Virgin Mobile was offering a smartphone for $25/month I thought it was too good to be true. Researching various other websites I saw that the biggest drawback to Virgin Mobile was bad customer service. When the price of the Samsung Intercept dropped from $250 to $175 on the Virgin Mobile website I figured that was a price I was willing to gamble with.PURCHASE: I ordered the phone on Dec 14 and due to snow in the area it didn't arrive until Dec 18 (can't complain about free fedex). I was able to activate it (mostly) that night using the internet (note that it says you have to charge the phone for 2hrs minimum before use) and was soon downloading freeware to fill up my multiple screens. To activate the phone I decided to bypass the credit card option (I had read multiple accounts of "accidental" double-billing) and chose to use 'fill-up' cards that...

Great!
This is a geat phone! It looks cool, feels really good in your hand and is easy to use. I believe this model description says it comes with fryo 2.2 but it actually comes with an upgrade to 2.3. The box also contained a black and white plastic cover for the phone. Both of these were a nice surprise. The picture is clear and really nice. Netflix works really well. Android system allows for an endless supply of apps. I wanted to get an otterbox cover for this phone but it dosnt appear they make one. Oh well. The phone has been great and I would highly recommend it.

My new phone
This phone is good and works with different SIM Cards as advertised,but comes without the Manual and/or the Software which took me a long tome to find on the NET without paying somebody.The disturbing fact is that it is falsely advertised as having a 1 year US Warranty, however it is not supported by Samsung USA at all and I was advised to contact Samsung Philippines by e-mail (no toll-free number)and their response was below any expectation, but lucky I have managed to resolve the Bluetooth problem myself. The Manual I have found has mistakes regarding the correct settings in some areas.I wish Amazon will review the Warranty Policy for this product and advise how to proceed if the Service is neededI.T.

One phone has the "Sleep of Death" issue
Have two of these phones for a couple of weeks. One phone works perfectly, no issue whatsoever. The other one has the SOD ' Sleep of Death' issue multiple times. SOD = phone shuts itself off. Google solutions and tried them all but nothing works. Downloaded the lastest OS - Gingerbread 2.3.4 thru Samsung Kies but issue remains. This one is going back for an exchange. Neither of the phone is rooted.Overall I really like the phone, value vs. price and I think you are not going to get a better deal. A good beginner android phone that is almost iphone like.Pros: Screen size 3.5" is perfect for me. The overall phone size isn't too big either. Plenty of free apps to download. Gingerbread improves the battery life.Cons: Internal memory is small. You won't be able to download a lot of apps. And you can't install the apps to the external SD card unless you root the phone (become a superuser) but that immediately voids the warranty. I read...
