The low down on new 3d Blu ray tech
First off i would like to set the world strait on compatibility. This blu ray player is not compatable with most HD TV's. Even if your TV says 3d HD ready it might not be. the reason i explain below in "how it works". if you do not have a samsung hd tv this will not work for you as of now. Misubishi is making an addapter its not out yet but on mistubishi DLP tv's that say 3d ready this will work for them eventually with the addapter. to find out if your tv is compatable you need to contact Samsung. go to their website and call them. i have been doing this for a month and finally they have people that know about the product now. you need to varify your hd tv will work.how it works: and why your tv will or will not work. new 3d uses whats called active shutter technology. the appearance of 3d is made possible by showing your eyes two different pictures at the same time but separated. red and blue lens glasses work because on the screen it will show two different picture one...

Got the player a few days back. Initial setup was a breeze. Got connected to the internet over wifi very easily. It downloaded some apps and things were up and running. I tried things like netflix, pandora, youtube, accu-weather, google maps, sudoku etc and it was just amazing. Then I got to the real deal - playing a BD and it was quick, fast and fun. I had trouble doing the firmware upgrade (optional) over the network but then I read on some forum that usb upgrade was easier, that turned out to be true and things were done in no time, the procedure for which was available on samsung's site. So far i'm quiet satisfied by the video and audio performance along with the elaborate apps and games that work on this.I've used it via hdmi with my lcd tv and hd projector. I've tried both analog and optical audio out with the tv and the 5.1 receiver respectively. Fast, really fast.
This player is screaming fast. The upconvert produces an excellent image quality. This is my second player. I bought a Panasonic back in October and even though the image quality is excellent, it is very slow. This Samsumg player opens the tray almost immediately after you turn it on. It takes less than 30 seconds from the moment you put the disc into the tray and the moment you start watching the movie. The Panasonic I have on the other hand takes approximately 3-4 minutes.The tray cover mechanism is pretty slick. But if you have young children around it will not survive long. The design is too fragile and will break at the first mishandling.

Not Bad, But ....
The unit works fine most of the time, but it does have some issues that make me wish I had bought a different model.First the good stuff. The included Samsung Apps are awesome. The firmware upgrade process is quick and easy. Streaming Netflix movies through this unit is better than streaming directly to my TV because it doesn't require a major rewire of my audio system as this unit is already connected to my AV receiver.The unit is so light that pushing buttons actually moves it around. It would be great if it had a bit more substance so that it would just stay in place on the shelf. Occasionally, it pixelates, audio drops out, or just generally does strange things. As mentioned in other reviews, a power cycle will fix the problem. It only has one HDMI 1.4 output, so if you want to use 3D, you need to be sure you have HDMI 1.4 support through the entire path to your TV. glasses are great but why is the movie not in the box?
okay so the glasses seem like pretty good quality and the picture quality is amazing. I will add that it seems a little dark but a simple brightness adjustment fixed that for the most part. My problem with this product is that you have to send a voucher in to get your movies I did this online and it was very simple to do the problem is it said it will take 10 to 12 weeks to delivery I see no reason for it to take that long as there is not a lot of 3d contant right now and you would think that samsung would want me to be able to enjoy my movies as soon as possible considering how much money I gave them

Great 3d... with the help of some electrical tape
Got this with the bluray player and the c7000 plasma set. At first I was blown away by the 3d, but then started to notice my glasses losing connection(flashing) whenever a bright moment on the tv screen interfered with the 3d light emitter.It was really bad, so much so that I was thinking of returning the glasses, but then after doing some forum searching, I found a very cheap and simple fix. Put a little strip of electrical tape over 90 percent of the glasses sensor(Right in between the lenses)This home remedy turned the glasses from almost completely unusable to perfect. I have never lost connection in a few weeks since doing this. If you're having this problem I know it sounds a little weird to cover the sensor, but its so sesative that blocking out the light is the only way to fix this. It is a complete fix in my opinion, and takes a couple of seconds to do.I would rate it four stars, but I cannot do it because a hundred fifty dollar glasses shouldn't need some jimmy...

Samsung Plasma Beats LED/LCD
I had the c8000 55" LED for over 3 weeks and loved the bright and clear picture, but it was hard to get the settings right for normal viewing, the viewing angle was atrocious vs. even LCD screens, and parts of the screen in dark scenes still have some clouding. I sent the LED back and purchased the c8000 58" plasma. I'm very happy with it so far, especially after tweaking the settings. Now, I have all the pop of the LED but with consistent colors, better blacks and unlimited viewing angle. The details. . . .ProsGreat uniform picture - great price the $ vs. LED. Easy to self-calibrate vs. the LED Samsung.Remote is very nice compared to the bluray remote (same as the c8000 LED remote), but I'm using a Harmony 900 for all my components so it isn't used.You can turn off the motion judder canceller and ditch the soap opera effect when watching movies. Picture Perfect in Ohio
An amazing plasma TV! Wanted to upgrade from a bulky and heavy projection TV upstairs to new flat screen TV to make a media room in finished basement. Wanted latest 3D technology that wouldn't become obsolete so soon. Didn't go to local stores to view demonstration of TVs since don't know how well they are set up. Instead relied on Internet reviews posted on various models by owner of new TVs. Samsung PN58C8000 plasma recived lots of good reviews including comments on how picture didn't change with viewing angle or across screen, 600 Hz sub-field motion, deep blacks and only 1.5" thick. This was most expensive purchase we've made thru Internet & it turned out fine! Order was completed on a Tuesday morning, set was shipped Tuesday afternoon and arrived at our Ohio home that Friday morning in fine condition.
