READ THIS before making a buying decision
I almost did not purchase this camera because of some negative reviews. However, I have and I'd like to address the negative comments.BLURRY PICTURES - when taken in low light conditions:YES - this does occur. It did when I used the camera for the first time.REASON - the user may not see the funky 'hand' that is displayed which indicates a questionable photo.The simple solution is to set the MODE to 'SMART AUTO' ! THIS SHOULD BE THE DEFAULT MODE for the camera.The first photos I took in low light were blurry. I thought the camera was defective. After I went into the user manual (which was NOT a hard copy but a disk) I figured out what was going on. Samsung should put in instructions on how to use the 'common' functions of a camera.DIFFICULT TO USE:MAYBE YES - For the 'average user' who has little experience in photography. But only -IF- they do not set the camera in 'SMART AUTO', or try and figure out what all the MENU...

Well done sir..
Apparently I went to MIT to study rocket science since I found this camera to be perfectly user friendly and straightforward. Quick, quiet, fun, "cute" even, this thing is a real joy to own thus far. At the price I paid (~$120 for camera and 8gb sdhc card and reader, bag, cleaning kit, tripod, and sweet cardboard box my cats love) this camera can't be beat for similar items elsewhere. The front facing lcd I didn't think much of at first has been rather useful taking (accurate) self pics and not merely the gimmick I thought it was going to be. Highly recommended...

I really like this camera, the only thing to watch out for is that it does not use an SD card like it implies. It actually uses a MicroSD wich is not so bad but was not prepared for it.

Best Flip-Screen Point-And-Shoot In Its Class
I am a mother of two young children, and my husband does not take pictures. Therefore, my primary method of documenting my presence in their young lives is to take self portraits, and for that reason, I have always considered a flip/swivel screen to be a mandatory feature on all my digital cameras. Unfortunately, this seems to be a bit of a niche feature, largely phased out of point-and-shoot cameras. Many of the bulky SLR cameras have a flip/swivel screen, but unless you're setting it up on a tripod, you can forget about one-handed self-portraits. Even most of the "point and shoot" varieties are still too bulky to fit comfortably in a pocket. Great shoot and point by Samsung but...
I like this camera a lot! It's very stylish and I love how the LCD screen flips to take self pictures. It is built pretty sturdy so I wouldn't worry about it breaking at all...just be careful not to drop it of course. It has great HD quality videos and it looks better than what I expected. Picture quality is great and clear but since it has 5x zoom you really can't take pictures of objects that are pretty far, but that's not a big deal. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because this camera is not the best when it comes to indoor low light areas. I set it to Smart Auto picture mode and that didn't help to make pictures look too clear. Maybe by playing with the other settings I might find out how to take low light pictures and I might just try that. But since I really don't take pictures indoors, it's really not a big concern for me.Bottom Line: If you like to take outdoor pictures, want to have a good HD quality video, and like to take pictures of yourself and/or...

Perfect for a compact travel camera
I have a Nikon SLR and a Canon HD camera for movies, but both are a pain to lug around. I wanted a small, lightweight camera I could keep in my pocket, use mostly for shots of people, but wanted a decent optical zoom and video option. Lastly, I didn't want to invest more than $100. I just got this today and I'm impressed. It looks and feels like a high quality camera, and has an easy interface. It's small, and light weight. The Nikon, Sony, Canon, and Panasonic models were all either heavier or cost much more for the features. The only thing is it requires a micro memory card so I could not use the ones I already have. An 8 gb is only $12, so, no big deal. I'd recommend this camera. It takes good pictures, too. But, the flash is not ideal for dark settings.

FANTASTIC
We actually got this camera as a replacement from Samsung for the SL605 model that had power issues, so they sent us this one and let me just say it's awesome, the pictures are very clear and life like and the 720p HD video is great as well, when we shot the first video and then watched it back, we couldn't believe the detail it had. This camera has more features than some of the other brands in it's price range, it is also lightweight which makes it easy to travel with. There's still some features we haven't tried yet but eventually we will. I would definately reccommend it to anyone who want's a great camera with a lot of features for a great price.

A great deal!
Let me start by saying that the only reason I didn't rate this as 5 stars is because the LCD display is a little dim and very hard to see in bright sunlight. But the photos come out great, even if you have to guess a bit at what you're aiming at. Indoors is fine, though.I bought this camera specifically to mount on my mountain bike to make high-def videos. It's small, lightweight and has the tripod mount in the center so the camera will be balanced when I bounce over rocky trails. The video (720p) is very good, but the image stabilization doesn't help on my bike. In fact I think it's better without it and then I just rely on post-processing to stabilize it. But I don't hold that against the camera - it's a pretty shaky ride on a the trails, whether it's mounted on the frame or my helmet. When the video is too shaky to view, I can still grab individual frames (using my video editing software, not included with the camera) and use them as photos - the resolution is high enough to...

Just a great camera and I take it with me wherever I go
I was planning to purchase a new camera back in December 2010 but did a lot of research and at one point I almost purchased the Samsung ST600 but was going to wait until we received our tax refund. I continued my research just in case something new came out and sure enough the ST700 was introduced. I waited until it was available and did some shopping around and found it for $221.00 which I thought was a great price. I have been using it but it has so many features that it is going to take a while to get through them all. The size is just great for all the stuff it has on it and friends are amazed at the quality f the photos and so am I. I also like the interface with my computer using the cable or pulling the card out to insert into the computer. I live in a wooded area and so we have all sorts of animals since we all left our back yards natural and the deer and other animals are there to take live videos and post them on Facebook. I hope t a lot of enjoyment from the camera...

i LOVE this camera. it is small, versatile, very easy to use, innovative (the front lcd screen which shows you the live shot, just like the back screen, is a brilliant idea for self portraits and group shots.... just brilliant), and takes simply EXCELLENT amazingly crisp and sharp pictures. my other point and shoot was a sony with a carl zeiss lens -- now you know those are good lenses, but this samsung beats it hands down.best best feature of this is the front lcd screen which lets you see the picture, just as if you were looking at the back lcd. so so innovative, so smart, and once you use it you wonder why all cameras don't have this amazing useful bit.picture quality is superb. even on email mode, this picks up details that my sony had never seen and i couldn't believe it. seriously... a sony with a zeiss lens you would think is perfect!... but this is better. very very very happy with this purchase and i simply love this camera. i bought it in time...

This product is visually beautiful for a camera and for a point and shoot it has A LOT of features. I really liked the wide arrange of photo and video options you can choose some with a lot of stunning effects and picture quality.There is only a few things i wish could have changed with the product.1. I wish the touchscreen was a little more sensitive. (Overall it isn't THAT bad, but its manageable)2. Be careful not to get any hard dust or debris in the lense because it WILL refuse to close if it gets to clogged up. This camera is definitely not a rugged all terrain camera, but a delicate camera to be carried in a hard shell camera case.3. The front LCD could be a little bit more accurate with what the final picture would look like. I kinda wished the LCD in the front would display the final look of the picture from looking from the back as well.Summary: Other than being an outstanding point and shoot camera with a ton of great features...

Best Little Camera out there!!!
I'm a fan of Nikon cameras. After I dropped it, it broke. Was at a store checking it out another customer customer (a professional photographer whispered and said) I would be pleased with the Samsung "hands-down". I purchased the Samsung camera and I love it. Clearest picture out there for the category (price, etc.). Takes realistic pictures, without too light effect. Also the videos you take, looks like HD. Very clear and the sound is wonderful. The case is nice too, not cheap looking. It is so small and light, I carry it most of the time. The bundle is perfect for the price. Summary: if you're looking for a small (not too expensive) camera with great pictures, this one is it. Oh, one more thing, I was hesitant with the re-chargeable battery, but I'm very happy with that. At first, after the 1st charge, it ran down after about 50 pictures, but on the second charge, it is still strong at 100% after 78 pictures. good choice
I have always had Kodak digital cameras due to the ease of use. I recently spread my wings and bought the Samsung PL120 and love it. It takes some time getting used to all the features and I sometimes forget how to get back to a setting in time for a great picture but all in all I am very satisfied with the camera. It takes excellent pictures with lots of cool settings. The only thing it does not have that I liked on my other cameras is a panoramic stitching. I like taking wide scenery pictures. Instead I opted for the self portrait front screen and love it! I bought it on Amazon with a package deal and it was a great price.

Great Camera
I just got this camera today it is easy to use and navagate. The touchscreen works well with fingers as wellas the included stylus (i put it on the hand strap for easy access) The stylus works good when logging into facebook, youtube, photobucket and the many other available places to share your photos. I uploaded a picture to facebook with relative ease.I liked the auto backup too, you can backup your pictures to a Pc without connecting the camera to the Pc (awesome!!)The picture quality is great too!The video mode supports HD 720p i havent tried it yet but its HD! I suggest this camera to anyone looking for an easy to use point and click camera with some kick ass extras like the ability to touch up / edit photos before u send them on their way to FB or wherever you send them!

Samsung Still has Work to Do
I bought this camera and used it extensively on a two week trip to Europe. Overall I am happy with it, it took great pictures and was pretty easy to use.I LOVE the fact that you can charge the battery without taking it out of the camera (Like the way you charge a cell phone). No need for a separate charger, so one less piece of gear to lug around. The benefit of this also means you can charge it on an as-needed basis (I charged it through the power outlet in the rental car I was driving). This was the key feature that drove my purchase decision, and its strange that it doesn't get mentioned much in the marketing literature since it's a major advantage over the competition.The touch screen interface is a disappointment though. If you are used to a smart phone type touch screen then this screen will seem slow and clunky. It feels more like a PDA from 2004 than a smart phone from 2011. Also, putting all the controls on the touch screen makes for some usability...

Great potential held back by quirky software
I just received my SH100 today, so I won't try to do a full in-depth review. However, in the hours that I've played with it I can already tell that there are quite a few 'quirks' that seriously hinder an otherwise great camera.First, the camera comes with a touchscreen interface for most of the functions. Sadly, it also comes with a stylus which, in my experience, isn't optional to use in many situations (such as typing) - at least with my large fingers. Even worse - there isn't a place to store the stylus within the camera itself. Instead, it clips and hangs awkwardly from the lanyard. While a generally small nuisance (and perhaps a non-issue for those with smaller fingers), it would have been much nicer if the screen was sensitive enough to work via touch or there were discreet navigation buttons.The biggest issue for me, however, has to be the software running on the camera. The UI isn't very pretty and is awkwardly organized. It feels very hastily thrown...
