Garmin Original 12V Vehicle Power Cord
This is th exact same 12V power cord that ships with many Garmin Nuvi models. Useful as a spare, or to keep in a second vehicle. It costs a few dollars more than other manufacturer's after-market styles, but knowing it is well made and will hold-up over repeated moving in and out of multiple vehicles seems like it is worth the investment.

Works perfectly
Some of the other cords sold here on Amazon that claim to be for the 1490's do NOT work but this cord works perfectly with my NUVI 1490-LMT. I believe this is the oem NON-TRAFFIC cord for this family of Garmins - says Garmin on the side even. The car cord with "lifetime traffic updates" that I paid extra for is thick and unwieldy and, since most areas DO NOT HAVE traffic updates, is also completely useless. This cord is lot more convenient.

Misleading comment
When I purchased a Nuvi 760 this item was shown as frequently purchased with it. Unfortunately it is not compatable and cost me to return as it was my error. Power connections were not visable so how is a person to know if the adapter will work with the GPS? Guess you learn the hard way.

So far, this charger has worked fine. Just want to clarify, though:You don't need to order this separately, at least not if you order a Nuvi 350. The 350 comes with the car charger, AC charger, leather case, dash mount, and windshield mount. Don't order this unless you want two for some reason. Many of the accessories shown on the GPS unit product page are already included.

This accessory is part of the original package when you buy the Garmin Nuvi navigator. You also get the windshield mount, a leather envelope for the unit, and an AC charger. Don't buy any accessories at the time of purchasing the unit. I bought this knowing I wanted and needed it and ended up with two and had to pay for return postage when I returned it because it was "My Fault" I couldn't use it. You only need this if your original one wears out or if you want to have multiple vehicles completely equipped. The product itself is excellent and keeps the navigation unit power from being depleted while using in the car.

I had to buy this because the one that came with the garmin broke. Honestly this is better than the one that came with it!! Only downfall is that the cord was about 6 to 8 inches shorter but even at that is was still long enough.

This one solved an impossible replacement for me
As Garmin has discontinued the model of GPS I own, there was no way I could get the vehicle power cable for a second car. The original cable is instaled through the dash board and therefore impossible to remove from my car. I need to use my GPS for a couple of weeks on a second card and could not find a suitable cable anywhere.The product matched well the original cable, had a good tag price and worked flawlessly all the time.

Does the job its meant to do
Ironically I think this is more durable than the Garmin version that came with the unit I purchased. The original broke within two months of purchase and this one has taken its fair share of abuse by the family and still holding strong a year later!

It's a cord and two connectors
It's a cord and two connectors; one end plugs into your GPS receiver, the other end into a 12-volt outlet in your car. Simple. Remember that running the GPS off car power means you can leave the receiver on continuously and even use the backlight as much as you want.
