Before you get discouraged by the reviews...
The IKEA-style assembly of this bed does, as other reviews indicate, leave something to be desired in terms of sturdiness and creakiness. However, with a couple extra hours and about $25 worth of apparatus from the hardware store, it's easy to build this thing solid as a rock. If you've got the time and the inclination, you'll end up with a surprisingly high quality piece of furniture. (And it doesn't look cheap either.) Total assembly time, with the modifications, was about five hours for a moderately capable guy with a drill and a six-pack of High Life. You'll also need a companion to help hold things together as you're slotting together the bigger bits. If this sounds intimidating, it's actually pretty easy. Just buy the hardware and things will be pretty intuitive once you're done slogging through the directions and you return to this. You will need the following from the hardware store. Good bed for $300-$400
Let's face it, you're not going to buy this bed because it's the best, but because it's cheap. The construction was good. Thick particle board that seems solid. The instructions were incredibly easy (Though when they tell you to put the JRN nuts in, don't bother. They'll fall out constantly until you screw them in a few steps later) and I put the bed together in about half the time they said it would take. My biggest beef with the bed is that the slats are a little too bendy and a little too far apart for a box-free memory foam mattress. I had to go to the local lumber store and buy about $25 worth of plywood to lay down over the slats to be comfortable on the bed. I expected, because this bed was listed as a "platform" bed, that the mattress would be resting on a "platform" but what do I know? Other than that, though (and really the bed was still under $400 including the plywood so I'm not complaining that much) I'm very happy with it. It's better than the...

full size platform storage bed- espresso finish
This bed is great. I purchased this bed along with a tall bookshelf headboard when I moved into a new place that didn't have room for both my dressers. The drawers are not as big as you would get in a dresser, but there are six of them, so it was exactly what I needed for the additional storage. The packages are pretty heavy, which was the first sign that the material is of quality. It took several hours to put together, and you definitely need a partner to do it. Nothing is labeled explicitly, but once you get a hang of the materials and directions the assembly is not difficult despite it taking so long. Having a drill screwdriver definitely is a must; it would otherwise take forever. Once constructed, I found the bed to be really sturdy and solid. The drawers slide easily and fit great into their slots. Overall, the bed does not feel or look cheap. I am very pleased with this product, especially at this price. Full/Double Bed With Drawers
It's a fairly nice bed for the price, has under bed drawers and if you add a memory foam mattress it's even nicer to sleep on. Nice dark wood color, it is pressed wood, looks nice. It is also fairly low to the ground not as tall as some beds are. The under bed storage is nice, good choice for apartment dwellers without a lot of room. I bought this bed for my Daughter and Son-in-Law, who told me that their mattress was a full. I thought that Vision Decor had sent me the wrong sized bed, called the seller. And corresponded via email, the seller was most helpful and gracious. I only found out that my daughter had given me the wrong dimensions when the seller asked us to measure the mattress. So, I thanked the seller and bought a full sized Eco Friendly Temper like foam mattress from Walmart online and the whole problem of the bed was finally solved. the bed - Very sturdy and easy to assemble for a mail order bed. (Although it is a little tedious, there is a lot of parts due to the shelving.) I love the platform bed, but see my caveat for the headboard. HOWEVER - Do not choose the lowest list price. I ended up paying double for shipping than I did for my gun safe which weighed about 3 times more. Before you choose which Amazon company to use, put it in cart and see what the total price is... then repeat until you find the TRUE best price. 1-5-09 update - Now that I have had it for a few weeks. The drawers are pretty useless. 2-3 are already not tracking well, as if the tracks are worn or warped. I am simply not going through the effort to disassemble to get the necessary access to fix. Yes I'm a picky consumer. And I did not expect this to be something that would become an estate heirloom or something. And its manufatured well enough. The instructions for assembly were thorough and sensible. All parts needed were included and fit together correctly (one drawer side needed a little drilling by me to correct two misaligned through-holes which, being a mechanic, I had no problem handling but they do have a parts replacement policy to cover this sort of thing). Assembly took longer than advertised, taking me almost five hours in total. You need to take your time because if you rush it you're gonna strip screwholes very easily with laminated particle boards or do other damage as you have to re-do parts that you mis-install, etc. - you get the idea. I took my time and - hats off to mftr - the finished product looks and works as advertised, is solid, supports my new latex mattress very well and should last a long time. I am very pleased with the finished product. It is sturdy and rich looking. The drawers in particular are made of very good material. I assembled this myself. It wasn't easy sometimes, but definitely possible. The directions are very clear, however it would have been nice to have the pieces labeled. Also might have been nice to have markings on where to nail the drawer bottoms. That's the only reason I didn't give it five stars. The drawer sides ARE labeled R and L, if you look really hard. The bed comes in three boxes, so be sure it has all arrived before you start. It was all packed very well and all the hardware was included. The only time it might have been good to have help was when I was trying to attach the footboard and keep the slats aligned properly. That was a bit of a challenge. I also purchased the bookcase headboard that goes with it. My only suggestion is that if you purchase both, don't push the bed all the way up against the headboard. The bed does not attach to the...
